Civil airline captain Gavin Maynard and two members of his crew, detached to a still-uneasy Northern Ireland to fly routes to Heathrow and Majorca, find themselves caught up in a revenge abduction which forces them to seek aid from self-serving factions. Against this life-threatening background they have to resolve their various personal and emotional problems. With much of the action set amid the moors of the Antrim coast, the book is a testament not only to the beauty of Ulster but to the steadfast courage of the people of that historically troubled Province. His family history of Irish partisanship would have qualified the author, Pat Cunningham, DFM, to write this novel. Adding to that twenty years of supporting special-service operations with the RAF, an equal period of airline detachments in troubled Ulster, and an intimate acquaintance with airline politics, makes this a spellbinding read.
