Author Description

The Testament of the Fraternity of the Rose and Golden Cross exists in a number of manuscript copies. It contains some references to the 18th Century Rosicrucian order, together with some philosophical remarks on alchemy. The bulk of the text is taken up with describing, in a precise and detailed way, some alchemical experiments which are characterised by the use of repetitive stages in the work. It is illustrated by a series of twenty-five coloured emblematic drawings.
