To become a Mason, you've got to be ready to seek knowledge and that urge for knowledge begins in your heart. You will find, as you progress through the degrees, it ends there as well, because the knowledge that you're seeking is deep inside yourself. The chisel symbolizes the process of education and instruction in the ways of our Ancient Craft. One of the things you are told as an Entered Apprentice is that you should make daily steps in Masonic knowledge. You should study the objects of research in each degree. This book is based on Fifteen years' experience of giving lectures of Masonic Instruction to new apprentices. This book covers the first of a series of lectures which were originally created for W. Bro Sandy Macmillan of St Lawrence Lodge in Pudsey West Yorkshire to help a new group of six entered apprentices understand the Order they had just joined. I have spent the last eighteen years trying to help my fellow masons understand the purpose of the rituals they work. This is the first in a series of books that contain what I have learned and what I try to impart to help Freemasonry not only survive but to thrive.
