The fear comes from what lurks within the shadows of the darkness and is visible at times. What lurks there is foreboding and seen as perilous. Of all the creatures that are believed to dwell in the darkness, the most captivating, mysterious, and precarious living entity is Lilith. Lilith is many things. Most know about her through Jewish Folklore as Adam's first wife and as a demonic figure who seduces men in their sleep as a Succubus as well as a murderer of infants. She is shrouded in mystery, and the stories of who she is, and what she is, are many and diverse. Her attributes range from what is seen as light and what is seen as dark. She is feared, adored, maligned, and worshiped. She is a symbol of equality, non-conformity, sexuality, taboo, strength, rebellion, independence, and individuality, and independence. To borrow the words Of Winston Churchill, she is "a riddle wrapped in an enigma." Her dark side summons our shadow side. The many legends that surround her, intrigues and seduces those who feel a connection to her, and who are inspired by her. We are drawn to her for many reasons.
