In this manual of self-initiation, written in the late 1930s, the great magus Kim Seymour maintained that a group of two or three people working together, or even an individual reading the material and brooding over it on his own, could produce a great release of energy that is tied up within the soul of the average Westerner. This in turn would make a considerable difference to the amount of positive force available to him for creativity in his life. As he writes within this long essay: ‘Now this study in moon symbols is intended to show the reader a way of initiation. If studied with care it will enable a self-initiation into the symbolism of the moon cult to take place.’ I don’t think there is anyone, after reading this, who has not tried to get to the Cave in the Mountain, find the Watcher at the Ford of the Moon and go beyond there to the High Place of the Moon within the realms of the Fae.
