This is a series of articles about the “other” presences that can occur at haunted locations. These are “media archaeologies”, traces of past mediations at these sites. These are not human cultural “ghosts”. They are various environmental processes, as natural occurrences, and technological scans and measurements today largely performed on ghost hunts. These “other” presences must be taken in account in any investigation of a haunted site. Otherwise, they will be confused as a human ghost.
