Review American today seems swamped by a rising tide of Christian Fundamentalism; images of its excesses are all over television, from the blatant "give me your money" shows to the news reports of Fundamentalist intolerance turned violent. Most sensible people (including most of "mainstream" Christian communities) are aghast at this trend and wonder how this new fanaticism could develop within "the land of the free". One True Doctrine addresses some of the root causes of the Fundamentalist blight as it looks at the development of Christianity from a perspective outside of Biblical tradition (both authors are from the Wiccan tradition). One True Doctrine traces the Bible back to its Pagan antecedents, explains the historical contexts in which it was canonized and promulgated, and provides a pint-for-point overview of the many plainly contradictory statements in what is held by fundamentalists to be an "inerrant" text. One True Doctrine is an excellent tool for demonstrating that fundamentalists are playing fast and loose with their "inerrant" text, but have never been able to counter the inevitable onslaught of Bible quotes.
