Even the Egyptian historians of antiquity never attempted to deny the existence of Moses or that he had led an exodus from their land. Among the Jews, there was an extra-Biblical tradition connecting Moses to Kush, the present Sudan, where he had done some warring. Artapanus of Alexandria and Josephus mentioned it in their writings. A reasonable conclusion is that Moses, raised in the pharaoh's house, was a Viceroy of Nubia and that his Egyptian name was Ahmose.
