This book is a book was written for those wishing to learn more about one of the less known periods of ancient Egypt, the first intermediate period. This period, which included about one hundred and fifty years of struggle between different regions of Egypt for wealth and power led to internal wars, that almost brought the country to its knees. With no ruler, or internal government, and facing starvation, the new rulers fought for what they believed to be their birth-right. Eventually with the Theban rulers coming out on top, the northern infidels eventually retreated, and all had to bow down to this new King, Mentuhotep II Nebheptre. From now and for some many years Egypt would be in peace. Now Mentuhotep had to re-build what had been lost, and his successors had to continue what he started. This book concentrates, not only on the Kings and their associated families, but also elite people of the court and the palace, that helped the government work. I hope that this fascinating time in Egyptian history enthrals the reader as much as it has the author.
