Since the discovery of Tutankhamun's magnificent tomb at Thebes by Howard Carter and Lord Carnarvon in 1922, the young Pharaoh has captured the public imagination. The boy-king came to the throne aged 12 during one of Egypt's most turbulent periods. He should have lived out a prosperous reign but died mysteriously just 6 years after his accession.
