English summary: The base of the outer wall of the sanctuary in the Horus Temple of Edfu depicts what is perhaps the most important and most detailed geographical procession in ancient Egypt, the key parts of which are known also from a number of papyrus documents. This study, completed as part of the Heidelberg Academy project Der Tempel als Kanon der religiosen Literatur Agyptens (the temple as a canon of religious literature in Egypt), provides the first complete translation and detailed annotation of the res sacrae of the forty-two ancient Egyptian administrative regions organized in eighteen categories, which were regarded throughout the country as providing the main characteristics of ancient cult topography. Since, due in part to its delicate state, the body of the text could still not be regarded as having been securely recorded despite the existence of several edited collections, Mareike Wagner produced facsimiles of all the reliefs and their inscriptions based on photographs provided by the French Institute in Cairo (IFAO). In addition, the volume contains a new edition of the geographical papyrus from Tanis, which thanks to modern multispectral imaging provides numerous improved reproductions of the completely carbonized papyrus.
