TEXT IN GERMAN This is the publication of the 1962 dissertation of Erika Endesfelder on the workmen from Deir el-Medina. Analyszng all available textual evidence, mainly ostraca and papyri, the author reconstructs the social-economic conditions of the workmen in the village. Particular focus is laid on accommodation, administration and organization of work as well as on jurisdiction. The book provides an in-depth view of the organization of the workmen and a summarizing account of the textual sources.
