Based on Evans' archaeological work on the island of Crete, this book provides insight into the ancient Minoan civilization through an analysis of their written language. Evans discusses the meaning and significance of the Cretan pictographs and pre-Phoenician script, as well as the discovery and excavation of the Hagios Onuphrios sepulchral deposit.
