The History of the Peloponnesian War is the work of a famous historical scientist, Thucydides.Not a lot is known about the life of Thucydides, but his History is considered by modern scientists to be the most valuable historical document and undoubtedly a skilful story.The History of the Peloponnesian War consists of 8 books. The first book contains a famous introduction - studies of the most ancient history of Greece, a summary of casus belli and real reasons for the war, a brief review of fifty years (a period from the Battle of Plataea till the Peloponnesian War) and a severance of Athens and Sparta; the history of the war begins in the second book. The description reaches the winter of 411 BC, and then is continued by Xenophon. A historian Cratippus also continued to write The History.
