The significance of the Persian Empire in royal and biblical history is revisited, and with new insights into its genealogy (e.g., the relationship between Cyrus the Great and Darius the Great) and chronology, as well as the transition from the previous empires of Egypt, Assyria and Babylon and to the following empire of Alexander the Great and his Greek successors.
