Macedonia was known as the home of Alexander the Great in Antiquity. But this kingdom had lost much of its importance by the time it became a Province of the Roman Empire in 146 BC, after being conquered following several campaigns. For the first time, a monograph presents a comprehensive picture of the historical and cultural development of the Roman Province in northern Greece, ranging from the prehistory of its founding up to Late Antiquity.
