Author Description

A retelling of all the principal Greek myths, with a section explaining the archaeological and historical background. A major feature of the book is the extra information included throughout the myths section, and printed on coloured panels for easy reference. Each panel covers a separate topic, ranging from the origin of the gods and ancient beliefs in the afterlife to the place of women in Greek society. Without being academic in any way, the book passes on the authors' expert knowledge of and lifelong fascination with the lives and thought of people of the past, and retells the stories that form a part of general European culture.
