Julius Caesar's Gallic War chronicles his nine-year conquest of Gaul (modern France and Belgium) from 58 to 50 BCE. This edition presents Book VII (Chapters 29-62) with Latin text, same-page vocabulary, and explanatory commentary. Within these pages, the Roman imperator describes the aftermath of the destruction of Avaricum, the battle against the forces of Vercingetorix at the Gallic town of Gergovia, the revolt of the Aedui against Rome, and the precarious situation of the Roman commander Labienus near Lutetia (Paris).
