
Meditations is a timeless masterpiece of philosophy and self-reflection written by the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius. Born in 121 AD in Rome, Marcus Aurelius was a member of the prominent Aurelian family and was trained in Stoicism from an early age. As emperor, Marcus Aurelius faced many challenges and conflicts, including wars against the Germanic tribes along the northern borders of the empire and a devastating epidemic that killed millions of people.
