Fifteen Roman villas and farmhouses have been identified with certainty in Upper Austria. This evaluation of the current state of research into Roman agricultural settlements in the region is based on the detailed analysis of eleven of these sites. Traxler presents plans and descriptions of each structure, making note of finds, archaeological investigations and published material. This evidence is then used to construct a comparative analysis of the chronology and types of rural settlement throughout the Roman period. German text, English summary.
