This is the black & white illustrated version of Warren Scott C's translation of the Tao Te Ching. Here is a unique translation of the Tào Té Ching, its ancient message given new life by ensuring it remained rooted in the oldest manuscripts in existence. This book is the result of a rigorous methodology and over 1500 hours spent immersed in the earliest versions of the Tao Té Ching: The Guodian Bamboo Slips and the Mawangdui Silk Texts (A and B). Each chapter has been handled with care, character by character. This process included visually inspecting manuscript images, etymological reconstruction, historical-linguistic analysis to identify possible language drift, researching cultural contexts, and repeatedly cross-comparing all available manuscripts.
