
~Tirus~ I had seen many sunsets over the years, so many that this one should have been no different. Yet something about it caught my eye. So here I was, standing on the fore deck of my ship, watching this amazing sunset, yet fretting at the same time. Was I really going to return home empty handed? This, my last voyage before I retired. I did not want to return to Sunderland unsuccessful, but rather victorious! I wanted my name go down in history for discovering new land. I wanted to bring home riches and whatever else we discovered. There had to be land! I had heard rumors and stories throughout my years at sea about land far, far to the North. So many stories, that I knew there had to be something. In fact, I was so convinced, that I had convinced the king to give me his blessing to find this mysterious land. Yet, here I was watching the sun set again, just as I had done for months now with no land in sight. Did the gods prosper me, giving me position and power only to see me fail? Gripping the rail, I squeezed until my hands went numb. I was angry. I did not want to accept the latest news my advisors had reported just minutes earlier. I wanted to push on, to keep going, but despite my protest they insisted we turn back and head home. My advisors were worried about food shortages, or worse, that we would completely run out of supplies. I looked at the other ships in my fleet. I wanted to push on, but if I made the wrong decision, it did not only affect me, it affected us all. Thousands of men were counting on me to lead them safely. ~Anah~ Another loud boom echoed throughout the temple as the battering ram pounded against the door yet again. The guards were standing in position, waiting, ready to fight, to defend us no matter the cost.
