Excerpt from Transactions, Excursions and Reports, 1882-83 There is nothing to show what was the extent of the Early English church, and of the decorated nave which replaced it: the columns and responds of the north arcade are all that remain. The arcade consists of four pointed arches of two orders, supported on three octagonal pillars and two responds. They are of a common type, and of no great interest. The next change was probably the building of a new chancel (by Henry Kniveton, rector, about which, with the exception of the timber roof and the glazing of the east window, remains almost untouched, and forms perhaps the chief feature and charm of the church.
