This 25-day travelogue by four septuagenarians kicks off in Dublin to experience some highlights and tastes of the Irish capital city before bussing to Limerick-Adare to play golf and bask in the sumptuousness of the Adare Manor resort. Then we wing our way to Munich for a one-day tour of the old city, an up close visit of Nymphenburg Palace and plates of Bavarian-style meat dishes before motoring by rental car through the Alps to Lake Como, Cinque Terre, Tuscany, Umbria and Rome. Along the way we experience the fleeting tribulations of navigating Medieval city streets and vertiginous seaside roadways only to be rewarded by the adventures they reveal. We are treated to rich landscapes, architectural masterpieces, religious and cultural histories, innumerable art treasures and a variety of country and regional cuisines. Among the delights were the opportunities to admire in person 14 of Caravaggio's paintings in Florence and Rome.
