Doveri professionali mi trassero fuori da Torino, fuori da quel Piemonte, a cui avevo posto tanta ajezione. Trasportato in un nuovo ambiente, arti stico certamente anch' esso ed assai suggerente alle belle idee, dovetti impiegar molto tempo per orientarmi fra gente nuova e cose nuove in lotte nuove. Ciò non valse cer tamente a farmi dimenticare neppure un giorno i vecchi inalterabili ajetti, ma fu una distrazione grave dal lavo ro incominciato, distrazione che facilmente ognuno comprenderà.
