No, I have not. "Q. Have you been able to find it? A. I have not. "Q. What is the substance of that letter? "The President.--The point is what passed between him and the respondent. "Mr. Todd.--If your honor please, it has to do, as I understand, with what had passed between them. "The President.--When that appears you can go back to it. "Q. Did you show this letter to the respondent, William Sulzer? A. I did. "The President.--Now you can go back to it. "Q. Will you state the substance of that letter? A. Why, it was a request to state what donation, contribution I had made; and whether a check or otherwise, and I don't remember all of it, but that was the gist of it. "Q. To produce and give that information to whom? A. To this committee. "Q. The Frawley committee? A. Yes, sir. "Q. Now state the rest of the conversation. A. I showed the letter to the Governor and asked him what I could do about it. "Q. What did he say? A. He said: 'Do as I shall; deny it.' "Q. What else was said if anything? A. Why, I said, I suppose I shall be under oath.' He said: 'That is nothing. Forget it.' "Q. Was there anything else said? A. Nothing more."
