CONTOUR 2.0 is a Hypercard environment for teaching about subjective contour and related visual illusions as well as about subjective contours as a microcosm of issues in visual perception. Users are exposed to the concepts of subjective contours, size illusions, color perception, top-down and bottom-up processing, visual anatomy, gestalt grouping laws, motion and apparent motion perception, and monocular and binocular depth perception. This courseware is ideal for individual, lab, and classroom usage. CONTOUR 2.0 includes the following features: * Eight sections allow users to access information in a variety of ways. * Findings present historical and current research. * Interactive glossary provides definitions in a convenient pop-up stack. * Hot-linked references permit automatic searches of researcher's work in the reference section. * References permit exploration of more than 250 of the most important citations in subjective contour research. * Chalkboard displays graphic images, or plays animation files -- particularly useful in interactive classroom lectures. * Animated examples demonstrate kinetic visual illusions and gestalt grouping principles. * Notepad allows users to take notes as they learn. Requiring Hypercard version 2.0 or later, CONTOUR 2.0 is compatible with Macintosh System 7 software and works on both color and black and white monitors. The minimum configuration is a Macintosh Plus with two megabytes of RAM and a hard disk drive. Compressed onto two 800k floppy disks, it is simple to install and run. As more data, graphics and animations are added, Contour will be periodically updated. Registered owners will be kept up to date about the availability of new versions.
