The book chronicles the careers of two legendary Kentucky Derby winners, Swaps and California Chrome and the man who linked them Art Sherman. As a teenager, Art was an exercise rider for Swaps and watched over him when Swaps rode on a train to Churchill Downs where Swaps would win the 1955 Kentucky Derby. Then at age 77, Art became the trainer of the great colt California Chrome who would win the 2014 Kentucky Derby and many other important races including the Dubai World Cup, collect almost 15 million dollars, win the Eclipse Horse of the Year award twice and be enshrined in the horseracing Hall of Fame.
