Author Description

The unfinished account of Franklin's life that he wrote between 1771 and 1790 is commonly referred to as his autobiography, however Franklin may have referred to it as his memoirs. Despite a difficult publishing history following Franklin's passing, this work has grown to be one of the most well-known and significant autobiographies ever written. Franklin's biography is broken down into four sections, each representing a different time period when he wrote it. The first three parts of the story have actual breaks in the narrative, but Part Three's story carries over into Part Four without an authorial break.
