Intra-city bus service is one of the most popular public transports within a city that not only facilitates the residents but also its commuters and has some direct and indirect impacts on city growth and development. Barisal city is one of the expanding urban centers in Bangladesh and it is a divisional headquarters of Barisal division. Yet there is no functional intra-city bus service in this city. Paratransits like rickshaw, van, pushcart, tempo, etc are the only one option that is somewhat expensive, time consuming and uncomfortable. Therefore, everyday travelers including both residents and commuters are suffering a lot. However, the city has the demand of intra-city bus service to its residents and commuters. Present Study is a process to calculate the existing demand for an improved intra city bus service. This study also provide some recommendation to meet up with the demand and make the bus service more viable and sustainable for future growth.
