About the Book: The Rise of National Data Buoy Programme in Indian Seas. Preamble:- I used the coronavirus period of solid two years to bring out this book titled "The Rise of National Data Buoy Programme in Indian Seas", which was my dream for more than a decade. The book got released during the celebration of the silver Jubilee year of the National Data Buoy Programme (NDBP) at the National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), Chennai on 14th November 2022. Dr. M. Ravichandran, Secretary to Govt. of India, Min. of Earth Sciences(MoES) released the book in the august presence of His Excellency Mr. Hans Jacob Frydenlund, Norwegian Ambassador to India among other dignitaries like former secretaries to Govt of India Dr. A E. Muthunayagam & Dr. P S.Goel, Prof. M. Ravindran, Former Director of NIOT and Dr. G A. Ramadass, Director of National Institute of Ocean Technology. Being an agrarian country and its economics depending on South West and North East monsoons, Govt of India was planning since its independence to understand precisely the ocean dynamics by launching suitable ocean observation platforms over the Indian Sea. Some attempts by IMD in the mid-80s did not succeed. It got realized in 1997 through the Dept. of Ocean Development to implement NDBP to collect real-time series meteorological and oceanographic data over the Indian Seas through an autonomous buoy system network to support weather forecasting, monsoon predictions, early cyclone warning, satellite data validation amongst many others, by entering into bilateral cooperation between NORAD and India for partial fund assistance and buoy system supply through a Norwegian company, having a reputation in this field. The book unfolds how the NDBP got established from a paper document to a national setup. It was a very tough journey of mine with my team members in establishing the first of kind program in Indian Seas. The book is divided into 8 main chapters: Every Chapter brings out unique
