Volume 21 describes mononuclear organotin compounds containing bonds between tin and transition metals of Groups III to VII; it includes a few compounds with tin-lanthanide and tin-actinide bonds. Compounds with Sn-Cr, Sn-Mo, Sn-W, and Sn-Mn bonds are most numerous and occupy a large portion of the volume. Many molecular structures are displayed to illustrate the geometry of -bonded organotin units and in several cases also the more complex bonding between the tin and transition metal moieties. All compounds ever reported are included in the present volume. If a compound was earlier described within the Gmelin series on organometallic compounds of the transition metals, reference to the respective location is made and new information is added when available in the literature.
