Author Description

The series is a three-level course for learners who have little knowledge of Chinese. The textbook covers texts and grammar with particular emphasis on listening and speaking. The primary focus for Book 1 is the teaching of radicals (unit 1), character writing and character formation. The simple and independent characters are introduced through short rhymes in unit 2 to unit 5. The topics for level one are: greetings, family members, personal introduction, numbers and dates, countries and languages, occupation and work places, modes of transport and time.
