The return of a portion of the writings of Abraham to modern man is a fascinating story. It has been called “an important, if not well understood, piece of American Egyptology.” In short, Michael Chandler obtained some mummies from a relative and while touring with them through the American countryside came to Kirtland, Ohio in 1835 AD. Eventually he sold them to the Church of Jesus Christ. The Prophet Joseph was particularly interested in studying several papyrus scrolls which had been buried with the ancient corpses. He believed that among them was the personal record of Abraham as well as Joseph, Israel’s son, who had been sold into Egypt. What he eventually discovered was something even more profound: The basis of all celestial thought and the beginning of a restoration of knowledge going all the way back to Adam.
