St. Polycarp was one of the earliest leaders of the Church. He was a second-century Christian living from AD 69-155. Polycarp is one of three continuum believers who was a direct connection with the Apostles whose writings we still have today. The other two are St. Ignatius and St. Clement of Rome. This Early Church Father Series, by Greg Gordon, seeks to shed light on the answers to questions such as these by presenting some of the earliest authentic Christian writings outside of the New Testament. Let us hear from our earliest Christian leaders in their own words—some of whom were instructed by the Apostles themselves.
