Demersul academic coordonat de Constantin Iordachi reprezinta o abordare istorica exhaustiva a chestiunii redobandirii cetateniei romane, in special de catre unele persoane din fostele teritorii ale Romaniei Mari – Basarabia si Bucovina de Nord — in ultimii 21 de ani. Cartea, alcatuita din trei module de cercetare, demonteaza o serie de mituri ale acordarii cetateniei romane — in special pe acela ca, prin intermediul acestui mecanism, ar intra „pe usa din spate” a Uniunii Europene milioane de cetateni extracomunitari — si alcatuieste o imagine limpede asupra conditiilor, legislatiei si procesului de acordare a cetateniei; cei cinci autori ai volumului compara, totodata, situatia legislativa din Romania cu cea din alte state din fostul bloc comunist. The academic endeavor coordinated by Constantin Iordachi represents a comprehensive historical approach to the problem of reacquiring the Romanian citizenship, especially by certain people from the former territories of what used to be Greater Romania — Bessarabia and North Bukovina — over the last 21 years. Consisting of three research modules, the book dismantles a series of myths related to the process of granting the Romanian citizenship — mainly that it was a mechanism by which millions of non-EU citizens would penetrate the European Union “through the back door” — and builds up a clear image regarding the conditions, the legislation and the procedure by which the Romanian citizenship is being granted. The five authors also compare the Romanian citizenship-related legislation with that from other states of the former communist block.
