Vedic Mathematics is the name given to a supposedly ancient system of calculation which is believed to be rediscovered from the Vedas by Sri Bharati Krishna Tirtha Ji Maharaj between 1911 and 1918. According to Tirtha Ji, all of Vedic Mathematics is based on sixteen sutras or word-formulae. The simplicity of this system means that the calculations can be carried out mentally though the methods can also be written down.
