Three expert groups at a June 1998 workshop prioritized research issues in the areas of bioavailability, sequestration, and transformation (not surprisingly, the names of the groups). Workshop recommendations and their rationale constitute chapters 7-9 as they identify environmentally acceptable endpoints (EASs), defined for soil as acceptable concentrations of chemicals per a priori standards or chemical-specific information/testing. Prior chapters provide policy and scientific context on EAEs and remediating contaminated sites.
