"I feel like a lot of the decisions that autism non-profits make are more politically driven than they are medically driven. I believe there are many autism non-profits who benefit from people having autism and they are sometimes working to keep people with autism from getting help. The autism non-profits did not want to help me at all because I was higher functioning. I had an autism diagnosis but I was too high functioning. The autism non-profits were only interested in helping people who were lower-functioning and while that is fine I wish there was an autism non-profit who had an interest in helping people who were higher functioning like I am.
