Facsimile of the sketchbook/portfolio of Villard de Honnecourt, containing around 250 detailed drawings depicting insects, birds, dogs, and humans; religious figures; architecture, including details from the cathedrals at Chartres, Rheims, and Laon; church furnishings; and detailed diagrams of mechanical devices; along with written descriptions of technical procedures, mechanical devices, and suggestions on drawing humans and animals. The manuscript original was created circa 1220-1240.
