This catalog was published in conjunction with an exhibition of needlework samplers presented by Witney Antiques and documents 50 samplers and historic embroideries with both color photograph and provenance. This catalog takes us beyond the purely pictorial appeal of needlework and into three hundred years of social history, and more particularly provides us with a glimpse into the education and indoctrination of the feminine ideal through embroidery. 48 pp.
