This is the history of translations of Homer into Russian: from Lomonosov (1748) to Gnedich and Zhukovskii (1813-1820), as well as their contemporaries. The work is made in the tradition of the so called "formal school" with its interest to the literary panorama at large: well and less known figures, details of the literary life and discourse of the time of translation, historical background, various schools and styles of translation.
