On a distant planet, in a distant time, the humans have abandoned the surface of their world for safety below. A machine embarks on a journey to find its creator and it soon finds itself caught in the middle of the battle between these two groups. As it finds its place among the people, it finds itself on an unexpected journey of discovery as it learns what it means to be alive.
