For Roger Anderson, growing up in an era when America was still being settled, crafted, divided and fought over was challenging in itself. Survival was a way of life, but his dreams were fed by an undeniable creative gift, extreme wanderlust and a fierce sense of independence that drove him and his resulting adventures. Barefoot ranch hand, student of flight, WWII bomber pilot, business owner, Hollywood movie actor, radio DJ, award-winning national radio/television/print commercial producer, photographer; Rogers story is one filled with many assorted chapters. While he was ultimately the sum of those diverse experiences, he was indisputably one-of-a-kind. Fame and fortune danced around him his entire life, and his brushes with them were legendary. Along with that was the irrefutable fact that he obviously had an overworked guardian angel on his shoulder, continually snatching him from the jaws of death on too many occasions to count. He was the Master Storyteller, and his true-life adventures enthralled everyone lucky enough to be within earshot. They had an aura of fiction, being so dramatic and removed from our own reality. As he wrote them down later, in his inimitable reporter/commercial copywriter style, they documented global history and events that we had only previously read about in textbooks.
