My Great-Great Grandfather, William Carson McGough, kept a handwritten journal in pencil on Big Red lined tablets. He survived an arduous wagon trip from Georgia, a killer flood, bandits, deserters, marauding Indians, horse thieves, and crooked politicians – and his personal journal of these events survived all of that. Not many of his fellow settlers were literate or educated, so not many of the realistic stories of “the wild west” survive today – but his stories do. Told in his own words, join him on hunting trips, skirmishes with bad guys and the Indians, romances, danger, wild animals and the like. A distant relative of the famous Kit Carson, “W.C.” will entertain and educate you with his tales of hardship and fortitude.
