Experiencing the loss of a family member is always hard, and how we grieve that loss can be unique to the individual. My mother's unexpected death went off like a bomb in my wheelhouse. So when I had the opportunity to sail from Seattle to Los Angeles, alongside my father and two others, I rolled the dice. Maybe a compass could lead us to a new perspective.
