
Media election and cable TV This book focuses on the possibilities of cable TV as a medium of community, in the age of multimedia. It outlines the concept, role and function of cable TV, and presents the current status and characteristics of local channels operated by cable TV. In particular, we analyzed the cable TV election broadcasts in the 4th simultaneous local elections in 2006, and examined the meaning, effect, and political influence of the election. It also explores ways to activate cable TV local channels. In Chapter 1, the meaning and role of cable TV local channels are theoretically summarized. It outlines the concept, roles and functions of cable TV, and presents the characteristics of local channels operated by cable TV and the status of local and regional cable TV channels. In Chapter 2, we analyzed the election broadcasting performance of cable TV in the 4th local elections in 2006 and evaluated the role of cable TV. Cable TV election broadcasts include cable TV debates and debates, candidate speeches, candidate career broadcasts, election broadcasts, election broadcast special programs, news, election broadcasts, joint banners, and candidates, And career broadcasting. In Chapter 3, we analyzed the influence of cable TV election broadcasting in the 4th simultaneous local elections. Based on the results of an interview survey of 600 cable TV subscribers in Seoul, we analyzed the effects of cable TV election broadcasting and political influence in a comprehensive manner. Chapter 4 summarizes the meaning of cable TV in the 4th simultaneous provincial election and suggests ways to activate the cable TV local channels.
