some of the most innoative and eciting recent museum exhibitions have been those sparked by ideas from articulate artists and brought to realization by talented curators. these elements were aligned in the fall of 2005, when newly arrived curator, Merrill Falkenberg, met Eric Fischi, the renowned painter, who had stopped by the Parrish Art Museum to see a film. Wide-raging conversations ensued - about the nature of art, the power of images to rouse the viewer, and the strategies artists use to effect these connections - and the exhibition began to take shape. Portrayals of Intimacy and Empathy is the result. Exhibited 8/12 through 10/14/2007.
