Based on the standards of another generation most of these newer arrangements might seem unconventional. But they represent the new conventions, even though they may be unfamiliar to those who feel secure in more traditional households. Our challenge is to work for greater understanding and love to make the church of Jesus Christ a truly healing fellowship.In this collection, designed as both a helpful survey for the general reader and a study book for groups, 12 contributors explain how particular kinds of households have worked. They recount hard lessons, failures and successes. Much problem-solving has occurred in response to new working conditions, new cultural expectations, the growth of urban settings, and changing roles for women, which have encouraged the search for new solutions.The common throughout here is that God's love and power are adequate for all household situations, and the church is most effective when it accepts diversity, even as it proclaims the unvarying truths of God's holy plan for His creatures.
