When Duncan Dyason watched a BBC Everyman' programme about the street children of Guatemala, with its harrowing scenes of boys and girls living in gangs and begging and stealing to survive, it changed his life for ever. In this dramatic, heart-warming story Duncan describes how they gave up everything and moved to Guatemala with his wife and daughter, determined to help. Despite setbacks and very little money they went ahead with their first project, a training centre, followed by boys' and girls' homes, giving many the chance simply to be children again. As Duncan reveals, he understood their misery better than most. As a child he knew what it was like to be neglected, hungry - and on the wrong side of the law. Thrown out of home with a criminal record, it seemed that there was little to live for. He could not have imagined then how his own painful experiences would one day be turned around to bring hope to hundreds like him.
